Vehicle carrier — classificações de emissões
Os navios de transporte de veículos são torres de estacionamento flutuantes, e a sua física é invulgar: enorme superfície exposta ao vento, carga leve e capacidade medida em unidades equivalentes de automóveis, e não em toneladas. As emissões por tonelada parecem, por isso, elevadas mesmo em navios eficientes — a carga simplesmente pesa pouco em relação ao casco que a empurra contra o vento.
O tipo viveu uns anos 2020 espetaculares: o boom das exportações de veículos elétricos fez destes navios o mercado mais tenso a flutuar e desencadeou a primeira grande vaga de novas construções em décadas, grande parte dela com propulsão dual-fuel a GNL. A divisão geracional é claramente visível nos valores de intensidade verificados.
