Port of Discharge (POD)
The port of discharge is the port where cargo is unloaded from the vessel that carried it. On transport documents it identifies the end of the ocean leg — which is not necessarily the final destination, since on-carriage by truck, rail or barge often follows.
When cargo transships via a hub, the transport document still shows the final port of discharge, while the routing through intermediate ports remains the carrier's operational choice.
