What this data covers
Of the 25,927 vessels tracked here, 3,533 are container ships — the segment Seadex analyzes for CO2 performance across 2018–2025 of reported emissions data, averaging roughly 0 tonnes of CO2 per ship in 2025.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a 'fleet' and a single vessel?
Each vessel here belongs to an operating fleet — the group of ships a shipping company or beneficial owner runs commercially. The Fleets ranking aggregates vessel-level data (ship count, combined CO2) by operator, while this directory tracks individual ships by IMO number.
How is a vessel's CO2 footprint calculated?
Emissions are derived from each vessel’s reported activity and efficiency data for 2018–2025, aggregated per ship and per operating fleet — the same methodology used across the vessel ranking and fleet pages.
How often is vessel data refreshed?
The tracked fleet, container-ship count and CO2 totals shown above are recalculated monthly; individual vessel profiles refresh independently as new positional and emissions data arrives.
