Evergreen Marine — container fleet
The Evergreen Marine container fleet counts 37 ships reporting under the EU MRV regulation — the 9th largest reporting fleet — with a combined 1.62 Mt of verified CO₂ emissions in 2025. Every figure on this page comes from the yearly verified reports each ship files with EMSA.
Its total emissions went from 0.06 Mt of CO₂ in 2018 to 1.62 Mt in 2025, a trajectory that reflects both fleet size and operational efficiency choices such as slow steaming and vessel upgrades.
Evergreen Marine, the Taiwanese carrier founded by Chang Yung-fa in 1968, sails some of the most recognisable ships afloat — green hulls, EVER names, and since 2021 an unwanted world fame through the Ever Given's six-day blocking of the Suez Canal. Strategically, Evergreen doubled down on megaships later than its rivals but decisively: its A-class of nearly 24,000 TEU, led by the Ever Ace, briefly held the world capacity record, and the company keeps one of the industry's youngest big-ship fleets.
A young fleet is a carbon advantage: Evergreen's newest units post some of the best verified CO₂ figures per container in the MRV data, and the fleet's average intensity benefits from the retirement of older tonnage. The company has since ordered methanol dual-fuel vessels, joining the industry's second wave of alternative-fuel adopters.
