Its total emissions went from 0.69 Mt of CO₂ in 2018 to 1.29 Mt in 2025, a trajectory that reflects both fleet size and operational efficiency choices such as slow steaming and vessel upgrades.

OOCL, Orient Overseas Container Line, carries one of container shipping's most respected heritages: the Hong Kong company was a technology and service pioneer, and its OOCL Hong Kong was the first ship in history to break the 21,000 TEU barrier in 2017. Acquired by China's COSCO group in 2018, OOCL kept its brand, its management culture and its distinct fleet, an unusual arrangement that has preserved its premium positioning.

OOCL's MRV-reporting fleet combines those record-setting G-class ships with newer 24,000 TEU class deliveries. Ship for ship, its large units rank among the more efficient in the verified data, and the brand's disciplined operations show in a tighter intensity spread than most peers of comparable size.
