Pacific International Lines, Singapore's largest privately held carrier, built its franchise where the megacarriers were thin: intra-Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Founded in 1967 by Chang Yun Chung and still family-led, PIL went through a near-death restructuring in 2020-2021 backed by Temasek's Heliconia, then returned to growth with an orderbook of LNG dual-fuel ships — its first 14,000 TEU class LNG units began delivering in 2024.

PIL's ships appear in the EU MRV data mainly through its services touching Europe, a modest slice of its network. The verified figures still capture the carrier's fleet renewal inflection: its new dual-fuel deliveries post markedly lower CO₂ intensities than the veteran tonnage that carried the company through its restructuring years.
