CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator)
The CII grades a ship's actual operational carbon intensity every year, from A (best) to E, based on CO₂ emitted per cargo capacity and mile sailed. A ship rated D three years in a row, or E once, must file a corrective action plan. It complements the design-based EEDI/EEXI with real operating data.
