EEXI (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index)
The EEXI applies the design-efficiency logic of the EEDI to ships already in service. Since 2023, every large existing vessel must attain a minimum efficiency level, often achieved by limiting engine power. It is a one-off technical certification, complemented by the operational CII rating.
