Chemical tanker — emissions rankings

Chemical tankers are the artisans of the tanker world: smaller ships, dozens of segregated stainless-steel tanks, and port-intensive parcel trades that string many short legs together. All of that works against headline efficiency — more time manoeuvring and heating cargo, less time at steady economical speed.

Their MRV figures should be read with that trade pattern in mind: a chemical carrier's CO₂ per tonne-mile naturally exceeds a crude tanker's, without implying worse technology. Within the type, the ranking rewards the modern IMO II fleets running dense European parcel networks.
